PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) is available under trade names such as Algoflon, Hostaflon, Teflon. It combines many superior properties and therefore stands out as the only material of choice in a large number of applications.
- The chemical resistance of PTFE is unsurpassed. It is servicable in all industrail chemicals. To date, no solvent for PTFE could be found below 300oC.

The service temperature range of PTFE is extremely wide, between -260oC and 270oC depending on the operating conditions.

PTFE has the lowest coefficient of friction among all known solid materials. It does not stick.

PTFE is an excellent electrical insulation material.
In order to improve the wear resistance and other mechanical properties, PTFE is also available filled with glass fibres, carbon black, graphite, molybdenum sulphide, and bronze.
